Okay, hear me out.

There was something different about girlhood in the 2000s.

It was lip gloss that smelled like candy, skirts over jeans, and texting “g” to load your crush’s number. You’d rush home to update your Friendster profile, burn a CD for someone you liked, and write dramatic blog posts you hoped just one person would read. Everything felt bigger than it was, like the whole world was watching, even if it was just your barkada in the school hallway.

Long before “main character energy” was a thing Gen Z put on TikTok, we were already living it.

Before we ever looked up our birth charts, we were our signs. In the way we crushed too hard. In the way we built our identities out of movie quotes and Multiply captions. In the way we felt everything so much, then laughed about it over Jollibee fries the next day.

This is for that version of us.

For the sleepovers, the MP3 playlists, the diary entries no one else ever saw.

And maybe, just maybe, for the girl you still are when no one’s looking.

Let’s go back for a minute. Just to remember.

Aries: The one who always goes first

Regina George

She doesn’t wait for permission. Bold, fiery, and straight to the point. She knows what she wants and goes for it, even if it shakes things up. You might not always agree with her, but you’ll definitely remember her.

Taurus: The soft girl who doesn’t budge

Elle Woods

Loves her comforts. Loyal to a fault. Slow to trust, even slower to let go. She gives warm hugs, soft stares, and firm boundaries. You think she’s just sweet but she’s also steady, smart, and stronger than she lets on.

Gemini: The walking group chat

Lizzie McGuire

Talks fast, thinks faster. She’s the one telling three stories at once while switching playlists mid-sentence. Can be all over the place, but somehow still knows what’s going on with everyone. You never get bored around her.

Cancer: The Feelings Friend

Mia Thermopolis

She shows up with snacks and asks if you’re really okay. Cries at commercials, writes birthday letters, and remembers your childhood dog’s name. Soft on the outside, spiraling on the inside but always puts love first.

Leo: The main character (she knows)

Sharpay Evans

She needs a little fabulous, is that so wrong? She wants the best, wears the brightest, and knows she brings the energy. She’s extra and proud of it. She’s the kind of friend who hypes you up before a party, leads the karaoke, and still manages to look perfect in every photo.

Virgo: The girl with the highlighters

Rory Gilmore

She remembers the homework, overthinks the text, and takes pride in being the reliable one. Quietly competitive, deeply thoughtful, and probably more sensitive than she lets on. She’s always got a plan, even when everything’s falling apart.

Libra: The pretty one with a plan

Cher Horowitz

She’s warm, well-dressed, and always wants everyone to get along. Loves a good outfit, a good playlist, and a little bit of romance. She might seem lighthearted but she’s always ten steps ahead in her own charming way.

Scorpio: The girl with the hidden playlist

Kat Stratford

She rolls her eyes at everything and guards her heart like it’s a state secret. But get past the sarcasm and she’ll show up for you like no one else. Deep, intense, and impossible to forget.

Sagittarius: The chaos dreamer

Hannah Montana

She’s the friend with five tabs open and ten hobbies in rotation. Always planning her next big adventure or reinvention. Funny, spontaneous, and full of wild ideas. You’ll never pin her down, but you’ll always want to be where she is.

Capricorn: She has a life to-do list

Blair Waldorf

She’s composed, driven, and puts pressure on herself even when no one’s watching. She wants the crown, but more than that she wants respect. People think she’s cold, but she’s just focused. Underneath is a soft heart that hates being disappointed.

Aquarius: She plays by her own rules

Alex Russo

Witty, unpredictable, and never boring. She does things her way, rolls her eyes at the obvious, and always finds a shortcut (even if it causes a little chaos). The kind of girl who’ll charm you, confuse you, and then disappear mid-convo because she had a better idea.

Pisces: The daydream believer

Gabriella Montez

She’s the soft-spoken one with the faraway eyes. Sweet, emotional, and always somewhere between the moment and the memory. She forgives easily, falls hard, and believes in soul things, even if she never says it out loud.
